Into The Fog: A Mid-Summer Check-In on The Bay Golf Club

Summer showed up – so did The Bay. Across six tournaments on the PGA TOUR and major championship stage, our players delivered clutch shots, strong finishes, and plenty of Bay energy. Here's a look back at the first half of the summer…

JUNE

The Memorial Tournament presented by Workday | Muirfield Village Golf Club, Dublin, OH | June 4-7

The month opened at one of the most prestigious stops on TOUR, and Wyndham Clark came out swinging. Fresh off his CJ Cup Byron Nelson victory, Clark posted an 11-under total to finish third, one stroke outside a playoff – another elite performance from a player who was clearly hitting his stride heading into the major season.

Shane Lowry battled the notoriously demanding Muirfield Village layout and came away with a T22 finish, showing some encouraging form after a quieter spring stretch.

Ludvig Åberg entered Memorial four shots back after a solid opening round and gained valuable experience on a course that rewards patience and precision – lessons that would serve him heading into Shinnecock.

Min Woo Lee ran into a tough week and didn't make the weekend, but used the reset to sharpen ahead of the U.S. Open.

RBC Canadian Open | TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley, Caledon, ON | June 11-14

Wyndham Clark kept the momentum going north of the border, logging his best putting week of the season and finishing T7 at TPC Toronto – a continued display of the all-around form he was building toward the U.S. Open. The week also brought one of the summer's best moments off the course: Clark wore a USA Hockey jersey at "The Rink" on hole 14, sparking good-natured heckling from Canadian fans at one of the loudest holes on TOUR.

Shane Lowry brought energy to Caledon as well, eagling the par-5 first hole in round two and making his presence felt throughout the week.

126th U.S. Open | Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, Southampton, NY | June 18-21

Then came the moment that belongs in The Bay Golf Club lore.

Wyndham Clark took the first-round lead with a 6-under 64 and stretched his advantage to six shots at 7 under after 54 holes – the largest 54-hole lead at a U.S. Open since Rory McIlroy's eight-stroke advantage in 2011. Clark shot a final-round 73 to win by one stroke, becoming the first wire-to-wire winner of the U.S. Open since Martin Kaymer in 2014.

Ludvig Åberg turned in one of the rounds of the day on Sunday. He matched the low round with a 4-under 66 to close the week, a strong finish that showed exactly what he's capable of when everything clicks. He left Shinnecock with momentum and eyes locked on Royal Birkdale.

Shane Lowry had a difficult time in the early rounds at a course that was unforgiving for nearly every player in the field – Shinnecock showed its teeth across the board, and Lowry is already focused on what's next.

Travelers Championship | TPC River Highlands, Cromwell, CT | June 25-28

Wyndham Clark, running on – in his own words – "fumes, fumes. Just one more day," showed up to Connecticut the week after a U.S. Open win and nearly pulled off the extraordinary. He ranked first in strokes gained putting and second in scrambling en route to a T5 finish at one of the most birdie-friendly venues on TOUR. The fact that he was in that conversation at all, four weeks into a stretch of elite golf, says everything about where his game is right now.

Shane Lowry was right in the mix heading into the weekend and continued to build on what was a quietly productive June overall.

Ludvig Åberg put in work at River Highlands and came away with reps at a high-stakes signature event — the kind of competitive mileage that compounds heading into the back half of the season.

JULY

Genesis Scottish Open | The Renaissance Club, North Berwick, Scotland | July 11-14

Min Woo Lee picked up right where June left off, making a statement heading into The Open Championship. Playing a course that demands touch and imagination off the tee, Min Woo navigated North Berwick's mischievous terrain and tee shot challenges to lock down a T2 finish. A podium result in a major championship week setup – exactly the kind of momentum you want carrying into Royal Birkdale.

The Open Championship | Royal Birkdale Golf Club, Southport, England | July 18-21

Ludvig Åberg arrived in the northwest corner of England with unfinished business. The course that seemed to be calling his name since Shinnecock lived up to its historic billing, and Ludvig proved why the game's best players gravitate toward Open venues. He posted a T9 finish at one of golf's most storied locations, a result that underscores the consistency he's built into his game. Royal Birkdale is a test of fundamentals and mental fortitude – Ludvig answered both.

Shane Lowry competed in his home major season with the pride that defines his approach to golf, adding another chapter to his Open Championship experience.

Wyndham Clark continued to soak in competitive rounds at the sport's highest level, the benefits of the stretch he's been in clearly showing week-to-week.

OFF THE COURSE

Ludvig Åberg stepped outside the ropes to soak in Wimbledon, trading fairways for tennis courts to catch the action at the All England Club.

Min Woo Lee embraced the offseason the only way The Chef could: a Euro Summer filled with good food, and a chance to recharge before the stretch run.

Wyndham Clark stepped onto a different kind of field, throwing out the first pitch at a Detroit Tigers game with close friends and family watching on.

Shane Lowry spent quality time in Greece, joining Rory McIlroy and his family for a European getaway that perfectly captured summer.
