Club Gains Future Flexibility as TGL Moves to Five-Player Rosters. Full 2027 Bay Roster Coming Soon.
SAN FRANCISCO (Oct. 19, 2026) – The Bay Golf Club, a founding team in TGL presented by SoFi, today announced it has completed the first trade in TGL history, sending 2019 Open Champion Shane Lowry to Boston Common Golf. In exchange for Lowry, The Bay Golf Club received Boston Common Golf’s fourth selection to fill its open roster spot in this season’s roster formation process and one future selection over the next three offseasons, along with commercial considerations.
More on the roster formation process can be found here.
The move comes as TGL expands to five-player rosters for the 2027 season. The Bay’s full roster will be revealed at an upcoming date.Lowry was part of the original team’s four-player roster alongside Wyndham Clark, Min Woo Lee and Ludvig Åberg, helping introduce Bay Area fans to primetime team golf across the club’s first two seasons.
“Playing for The Bay Golf Club in TGL has been some of the most fun I’ve had in golf. Wyndham, Min Woo and Ludvig are terrific teammates, and everyone associated with The Bay has been first-class,” Lowry said. “I’m excited to join Rory and the rest of the team at Boston Common Golf. I wish everyone at The Bay nothing but success… except when they’re playing against us.”
“Shane helped build The Bay Golf Club from day one – in the team room, on the course and with our fans and partners,” said Eric Kwait, President of The Bay Golf Club. “He’s a major champion, and one of the most genuine and beloved players in professional golf, and he’ll always be part of our story. We wish Shane and his family nothing but success in the future.”
Kwait also added, “This transaction provides The Bay Golf Club flexibility to add another world-class player to our already strong roster and we’re excited about what the future holds. We remain laser focused on bringing a TGL championship to our fans and adding to the illustrious history of championship teams rooted in the San Francisco Bay Area.”
From all of us at The Bay: thank you, Shane. The Fog will miss you – just not on match night.
